Welcome to Aid Another!

What, another gaming blog?

Yeah, well...

I've wanted to start a blog for a while, to give myself an outlet for writing about the games I play and to improve my creative writing skills.

My mission statement for Aid Another is "Tips and Tricks for Better Roleplaying Games". What does this mean? If all goes as planned, it'll mean the following:

  1. Advice on running tabletop RPGs
  2. Advice on playing tabletop RPGs
  3. Reports of actual play sessions
  4. Drop-in ideas for games: locales, NPCs, and monsters

I'm committing to one blog post every other Monday, starting on January 6th. I hope to post more frequently than that, so please subscribe to the RSS feed if you want to stay informed.

Who am I?

I'm Jay Elmore: gamer, comic geek, and all-around nerd since 1977 and the release of Star Wars: A New Hope.

Currently, I make a living helping people learn to set up and use the software they have purchased from my employer; you can rest assured that the views and opinions expressed here are not representative of that employer.

I don't have any RPG or game design credits to my name, but I hope to change that.

What can you expect to find here?

There are enough gaming pundits out there, so I don't feel like burdening people with my insights on the gaming hobby, the games industry, politics, religion, or the outfield fly rule. I want this blog to be a place to get stuff that you can use at your gaming table.

I'll be writing about games that I can find time to play or that I'm otherwise interested in. This includes, but is not limited to:

This blog will also serve as a testbed for ideas and concepts; unless otherwise noted, content that is published here is free for personal and non-commercial use.
